Peter,Hang in there. It is different for everyone. I've been on 10mg lexapro now for 11 weeks. In my experience, I immediately felt benefits from Lex. I went on it for anxiety/panic attacks, and instantly my anxiety improved.
However, I went through many SE's for the first 3 weeks. I also got really depressed like you in either the first or second week.
Like you, I also experienced the initial good feeling of wanting to be around others; and then that went away for a time when I became depressed. All I wanted or felt like doing during this time was to be by myself.
But, that was short-lived. Things got alot better for me after week 3, as it continues to get better. So, please hang in there.
You might have to force yourself to get motivated, etc., during this time, but it'll pay off.
The best of luck to you!!!!
