St.JAMES: re meds clearing from the body:

Posted by Janelle on September 15, 2003, at 22:50:11

In a post somewhere you mentioned that "it is not how long the meds clear from your body, but the adjustments made, which last far longer than the meds effect in your body."

Well, this got me to wondering -- if that is true (and it makes sense to me!) then how come the tapering off schedules for different meds vary from one to another, for example Paxil should be tapered off VERY SLOWLY but Prozac can be stopped sooner?? This would seem to have something to do with the half-life of the med as well as what you mentioned about the med's effect on one's body.

(I'm kinda confused now!)
