> This is my third day on Effexor XR 37.5. I have really mixed feelings. I have "not really here" parts of my day. I have been taking my pill at 9 pm. I sleep through till about 6am. Feel ok in am but after 1pm I cannot keep a train of thought or really relate to my surroundings. Like I'm observing my surroundings not in them

I started to take Effexor XR three years ago. I also started at 37.5, I am now at 300 g/day. I did not have "physical" symptoms such as yours (food tasting weird, etc) but I did feel "spaced out" at the very beginning, especially with the initial dose increase (0 to 37.5, 37.5 to 75). After that, I had minimal side effects, except for retarded ejaculation. I friend of mine had nausea at 37.5, but they passed after a little while. That being said, I read post on this site which reported tough persistent side effects. I think this med really help me survive through the deepest of my depression but it did not do all "the job". I hope your side effects will decrease and that the med will do a great job for your health. Good luck with work too. I've been able to tough it out at work myself too. it's difficult to be sick and try to earn a living at the same time. Take care.
