> Hi,
> I have been researching and talking to people and I am very optomistic about some of the meds available to treat my Social anciety, ADD, and atypical depression. However, i have had the sad experience of a med (paxil cr) stop working effectively for me and the memory of this is a cloud that over shadows my hopefulness. I still havn't recovered from the paxil going out on me and as a result i have my first psychiatrist appointment in a week. My questions are:
>
> What meds most commonly poop-out, i mean is there a trend? My blind assumption would be that the more selective, gentler meds would stay effective for longer and the less-selective, generally older meds like Maoi's and tryciclis would poop-out more

You ask some questions that loads of us would like answered. First off, I believe that poop-out has been linked, though not definitively, to a depletion of dopamine.
Second, although I myself do not suffer from social anxiety or ADD, I have had decades of experience with major depression and anxiety.
So I can speak only from my own experience.
I have had total success with MAO Parnate for nearly 20 years and THANK GOD, no poopout.

I have experienced the horrors of poopout with Remeron.
The tricyclics have fallen out of favor and the MAOIs Parnate and Nardil have been vilified and unfairly withheld from many people who might benefit from them, but it seems to me that the MAOIs, which have been around for decades, poop out far less frequently than the SSRIs.
If anyone has done a complete study of poopout rates among all the ADs on the market, from A-Z, I'd love to see it.
Good luck and may you never have to speak the dreaded words "poopout" again.
