SEX, ZOLOFT, WELLBUTRIN AND EMOTIONAL BLUNTING

Posted by Lovely Lisa on August 31, 2003, at 20:57:10

Hi everyone,
I have been on 50 mg. of Zoloft since June because I was mildly depressed. Since then, my sex drive has disappeared and my ability to orgasm has decreased. To counteract these side effects, my doctor prescribed 300 mg. of Wellbutrin about two weeks ago. I have noticed that I have somewhat more sexual desire and I orgasm a little easier, but I still do not feel like I used to. Also, since I started taking the Zoloft, I feel sort of emotionally numb. I don't ever feel extremely sad, but I don't feel really happy either. I just kind of...exist. Even when I'm doing my favorite activity, I feel "blah." Since I felt like this when I was depressed, I was hoping the medication would increase my enthusiasm for life, but so far nothing really excites me. Do you think this is the emotional blunting side effect that is common to SSRI's? I am considering weaning off the Zoloft so that I can hopefully return to my old, happy self with my high sex drive. What do you all think about this? Has anyone else experienced these side effects, and if so, what did you do to deal with them? Thanks for your help
Lisa
