Warning Lexapro or Abilify

Posted by Daniel J. on August 28, 2003, at 9:08:17

My 15 yr old son has a psychosis problem which we all have been dealing with for the past 2 months.
The first meds he was on were 5 mg Lexapro and 5 mg Abilify. He spent 2 weeks virtually without sleep and with terrible tremors till he secretly started cheating on his meds.
Since this is our first experience we were unsure about a course of action. We got him in with Psy Dr. and he put him on 10 mg. Zyprexa 3 weeks later we returned as scheduled and my son explained the panic attacks he was having. Dr. added Klonapin to the meds. These seemed to have a beneficial effect after the 1st day. After refusing solid food for 2 days he is back on Burgers & fries, Salad and Tuna.
I would caution those who might mix Abilify and Lexapro. While my son was on this combo the consequences became more and more nightmarish. Whether it was either one or both I can't say but lookout!
