> I've just undergone 14 bilateral treatments. At first the ECT precipitated a mild improvement, but by no. 14 it had plunged me into one of my most profound depressions ever.Sorry to hear that. It is terrible when the, "gold standard" doesn't help.
>Love the general anaesthetic tho'...
Yes, I agree. I really looked forward to the brief but total relaxation that came before I went under.
> Though it's considered a partial opioid agonist, it actually rapidly induced dysphoria in me, (tho' it seems to have helped others on the board).
Could this have been a short term side effect that might have resolved with time? How much time did you give it?
>I also suffered from cognitive dulling and constipation (a common opioid related complaint).
Any others such as insomnia, nausea, sexual dysfunction etc?
>However I am certain full agonist opioids will dramatically improve my condition. I have taken low-dose Methadone for some two years and for me the benefits are clear; improved cognition (perversely) and increased motivation/energy, contrary to the generally cited effects. It's no cure but it helps. No tolerance problems; I've been on the same dose throughout.
I hope it continues to help you. Sorry to hear it's not a cure - what else do you take to augment it?
> Living in the UK, it's near impossible to lay hands upon prescription full agonist opioids - I would like to try them if only to see if my suspicions are confirmed - and Heroin is the one illict drug I haven't tried precisely because I *know* I'll be spellbound and that there'll be no turning back...I dropped the rest years back.No turning back? Is it true that opiates/opioids permanently alter brain function?
> I wish you the best of luck.
Thanks. I'm trying to figure out what to do with the rest of my life - I'm sure I'll find something to live for.
> Happy to discuss Meth.
Please do. I heard it was like a, "stronger, harsher," form of bupenorphine but by your description it generates a very different feeling?
>Have you tried Dopamine agonists yet?
No. Do you mean like mirapex? Since I have very strong anxiety I have tried to avoid, "activating" materials such as these. What benefit do they bring you?
Thanks for your concern and help - I truly appreciate it.
