Hi,

I'm no doctor, not even close. But I've got a couple of theories about a loud beating heart.

Do you suffer from anxiety disorders? I've read that panic attacks are the body's startle response (fight or flight) going into overdrive, releasing adrenaline to enable us to face any situation. Yet, in modern day life, the stress we have doesn't necessitate a physical response, so the adrenaline is not useful, and can even be harmful.

It could be making your heart beat more loudly.
Are you on any types of stimilant drugs? Do you take a lot of caffeine?

I've also heard that a heart murmur (not generally dangerous) could make the heart beat sound louder.

Sometimes, after a particularly stressful day, I still feel wound up too tight and I can hear my heart beating loudly in my chest too.

Hope this helps a bit. :-)

Susan
