I was on Risperdal for 18 mos before I knew it was an antipsychotic, my psych-doc told me it was a sedative. In that 18 mos period, I gained over 40lbs and didn't leave the sofa. Risp has to be the worse drug I have ever taken. It literally sapped the life out of me. Needless to say, I no longer see that psychiatrist but have lost most of the weight since starting Remeron.
