In reply to Celexa - Adverse Reaction? « Countygirl10, posted by Dr. Bob on July 28, 2003, at 22:21:36
hi there Countygirl10, I didn't have those things happen to me when I was on Celexa, I'm so sorry that you did. About Effexor, I really like that antidepressant. I work with any side effect I have ever had on it-which isn't much. I posted a few days ago about coming off it. I learned my lesson that I need to stick with Effexor as it is the only antidepressant that has worked for me in the past. It has helped with my clinical depression and OCD thoughts a lot. I wish you the best!!!
> > I was wondering if anyone out there had an adverse reaction to the anti-depressant, Celexa? I was taking 10mg. once a day for a few weeks when I began to get very itchy blisters on the palms of my hands and feet. The were the size of a half dollar and formed circles. After a few days I had welts and a red rash all on the inside of my arms and legs and could not stop scratching. I ended up in the E.R. and they thought it may be the late stages of Lyme Disease from a bite last summer. I never tested positive for Lyme. During the course of the past 5 weeks, my symptoms became worst every day. I had and have blurred vision, numbness on top of my skin in various places, diarrhea, nausea, night sweats, tingling and numbness on my left side of my face, scalp and left arm, severe neck and back pain (deep in the muscles) that just started 4 days ago, and dizziness. In the fourth week after my symptoms began and after going to a dermatolgist and two other internal medicine doctors,(had many tests done, nothing came up positive). Last week my primary doctor decided I could be allergic to Celexa. I stopped the Celexa last week and have been taking steriods. The large blisters are starting to go away because of the steroids. I do not think my symptoms are an adverse reaction to Celexa, my gut instinct tells me that this is some sort of a virus. But maybe I am wrong. Today I started on Effexor. Anyone have good luck with Effexor for clinical depression and OCD thoughts?
