Dosage question for Wellbrutin / Zyban

Just a question on behalf of my brother again!!
He's bee prescribed Zyban for smoking ceassation, and has been told to take 150mg am, and 150mg pm.. and these doses MUST be 8 hours apart?? Why would this be?? he suffers from insomnia veyr badly, and I would have thought an evening dose of wellbrutin would be terrible for that..
