I have been on Effexor XR for around 2 years. I am considering getting off of it because of wanting to have children. I tried to wean off of it last year and the withdrawl was so bad that I had to return to it to get some relief. I have not experienced the same feelings as you but you may be on too high of a dose. When I tried to up my dose from 150 to (and extra 37.5) I felt out of it, dizzy, and unable to concentrate. Good luck.
