It gets pretty complicated when it comes to what anti depressents are actually doing to enzymes and metabolism, but they mostly target the P450 CYP2D6 enzyme. Which generally increases concentrations of the drug, so that they body doesn't need to keep taking them as much, it works in the way that it inhibits them, just like the way they inhibit different neurotransmitters in the brain..I think they inhibit quit a few different enzymes that slow down metabolism for that very reason that the drugs stay in the system longer, there are what is called inducers which shorten the half life of drugs taken..and there are different ways you can speed up your metabolism and energy levels, fish oil is deffently a good one, and vitamin E, green tea, plenty of fruit, and I've heard that Coconut oil is good too.
