In reply to Zyprexa = no emotion ?, posted by cybercafe on July 14, 2003, at 23:38:29
hey all,
Just wanted to share my experience.
I am currently taking 20mg of Zyprexa. And 800mg of Lithium, along with 375mg of Effexor XL.Loads of side effects, but i figure it's much better to have hand tremors and dulled senses, than to be cutting my neck in my depression phase or trying to fly, in my manic phase.
I hope I'm not being shocking, but at the end of the day, these drugs are reserved for people who have no quality of life without them.May I suggest that if your symptoms do not outweight the side-effects, try some alternative therapies like CBT or DBT for anxiety and/or depression.
Low doses are a good idea too, perhaps 2.5mg of the Zyprexa may help and a moderate-high dose of an AD to give you the "boost" you seem to need.I hope that you do well, and hope that you don't think I'm saying anything negative, but these drugs ARE nasty and if there is any possible way not to take them, I rekon that should be fully explored. I'm sure you have explored all avenues first... so just disregard what i'm saying!
But my sentiments are: I hope all goes well for you, and just remember- next time you get bummed out by the side-effects, think how awful things can be without the drug. If they are out of kilt... look for an alternative.
Take care
Tay
