hey crazychickuk,
you know, when i was 9, i had to go in for an eeg, and they taped little pieces of cotton to my eyes to remind me to keep them closed. then the electrodes were hooked up to me, and i started trying to sleep. the situation with my eyes taped and technicians and all was so stressful, i had something like a nightmare that woke me and i just started screaming. they had to stop the test.
last year, age 26, i tried to do one. my eyes weren't taped but i had those things on my head. i didn't shout, being as i'm now an adult, but i still dreaded the worst. getting an eeg is enormously stressful. i walked out sure that they would have bad news for me. but everything was fine.
i understand how you feel; pondering the state of your brain can make you feel sick to your stomach.
but so far, studies regarding long-term use of these antidepressants have showed no long-term brain abnormalities. your brain 'rebuilds' every day with proteins, so you need not fear permanent changes.
last year, when i was in a similar state, i just relied on my friends, and my girlfriends, and talked everyone's ear off. i also called my therapist all the time. do you have support people around you? it sounds like it may be time to find them -- or just come back and post here. we're listening; we care.
i believe you are going to come out of this alright. Give the reboxetine a trial, and you may see that you turn out pleased.
good luck!
