ELECTRICAL STIMULATION TO TREAT OCD

Lancet, October 2002:
When electrical stimulation of the subthalamic nucleus was used to treat Parkinson's disease in two patients, it also alleviated symptoms of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). French researchers report that the patients' OCD symptoms all but disappeared within about 2 weeks of their surgery.
