topamax/strattera combo? calling amateur md's

Posted by bookgurl99 on July 6, 2003, at 11:31:30

Ok,

in the next 2 weeks I have appointments with my psychiatrist and my gp.

for psych, i'm going to ask about re-trying strattera for low motivation and attentional problems.

then, at md, i'm going to discuss migraine treatment options. i think he's going to suggest topamax, as he has been very concerned with my weight(i'm on the low end of 'obese'). (i may try to ask to see an endo, though, to treat it from a 'hormonal' perspective.)

my biggest concerns are; would this combo effectively treat my migraines (vomiting, cognitive difficulty, etc.) and attention-span, motivation problems? or would the topamax 'override' the strattera motivational aspect and make me a dummy-head?

alternatively, could they be positive -- topamax smoothing out the irritability of a non-stim stim?

also, do i need to be concerned about taking 2 things that affect blood flow?

i would like to hear experiences from anyone who's taken this or a similar combo, or speculations from any amateur md's that know of these subjects.
