In reply to not OCD just ADD, posted by Francesco on July 1, 2003, at 17:35:33
> Yesterday I have discovered surfing the web that my real problem is ADD. Now the problem will be to find a doc who agrees with me. Here in Italy adult ADD is not very well-known and most stims are out of law. I'm on Celexa now but only side-effects. I have taken Anafranil for many years, very useful but I gained a lot of weight and lost a lot of fun (I didn't like to see people when I was on it). My doc doens't want me to try Wellbutrin.

Hi Francesco,I know exactly what you mean. I live in a country next to yours. Adult ADD is totally ignored in europe. They have an attitude towards it like:"Thats your proplem! You have to live with it. etc." But I now have fond a doctor, a professor, who is willing to try Ritalin. No one at the health system (especially the incurance company, who pay for the drug) will doubt the judgement of a professor. Ritalin is hard to get, but is possible by law, and very uncommon for an adult in my place (ist like obtaining opiates, methadone, ...).
There are even no reliable psychiatric questionaries for abult ADD existent at time in my place. So my doc sends me to an diagnostic specialist, a so called clinical psychologist, who will do an experimental questionarie with me. But whatever the outcome will be, I will try Ritalin for one time. Based upon my reaction (if I get calm, better focused,..) and the outcome of the test, he will put me on Ritalin, or not.good luck
