P-doc has diagnosed me as BP and put me on Trileptal(started at 150 2x/day up to 450 2x/day) for 3 weeks and now added Wellbutrin (75). After being on Trileptal I started getting very weepy and angry, smashing things. I have never acted out on my anger so I scare myself! Maybe it's good but it makes me feel awful. So she added the Wellbutrin. Anyone have comments on this combination? It's all new to me, though I try to do my homework.

> hey, kat! you have got to be kidding me...the SAME THING happened to me when my NEW psych doc ADDED trileptal to a cocktail of topamax, buspar and wellbutrin while AT THE SAME TIME taking me off paxil. you're absolutely right...it is terribly scary...he said my weepiness and anger were due to coming off the paxil, but i had my suspicions. every BODY has a different reaction to different meds, so i am looking into thus. however, i have since passed through that period (it took about three weeks) and am now stabilized. HOW ARE YOU FEELING NOW? i will send new information if i can be of help.

I was on that combo for a short while and developed an allergic reaction to the Wellbutrin. I immediately quit and went back to Prozac but included the Trileptal. It was a terrible experience, really. The doc also put me on Clonazepam for occasional panic attacks (which only began after this combo). It only got worse. I spiraled and lost so much weight. The doc had me stop everything for while (in May) and I am just taking Prozac now. She says I am Cyclothymic (sp?), and not full-tilt BP. Of course I still have the slight manic episodes but right now it's entirely preferable to the horrible, depression and anger I'd feel when on Trileptal. The doc is waiting a few more weeks before reevaluating me and deciding about another course. However, as I emphasized, this "bubbly" feeling and not sleeping well is better than the alternative.
Good luck and I pray that this combo will work better for you than it did for me.
Sincerely,
Kat
