Greetings Henry O,
My experience with Lamictal has been very good. Actually I have been on it twice. The first time I did the slow titration (12.5, 25....etc. to avoid the rash which I think concerns people too much - most problems have occured with children). The second time around I started at 25mg and increased by 25mg./week to 350. It is good to go a little slow because it's one of the drugs where you need to find the "sweet spot" - not enough and you feel crappy and too much and you feel over medicated. I have had no unpleasent side effects accept a little nausea with the AM dose. At present I am taking a divided dose 150 during the day and 200 at bed time.
I have not had the dramatic results some people on the board have had, but then again I don't expect as much. After 30 years of treatment without mood stabilizers I am pretty much a hopeless case. I have tried most all the SSRIs, many of the TCA's and all of the mood stabilizers and MAOIs.
Current Meds:
Prozac 15mg.
Lamictal 350mg.
Klonopin 1.5mg.I would recommend a try at Lamictal. If I can answer any further questions please let me know.
