Shame on your gp for not referring your husband to a psychiatrist in the first place.

Two weeks is not enough time to see how any med will work for a person -- I wouldn't be surprised if the pdoc decided to try him on it again, and give it more time.
The most important thing you can do is be supportive - it is very difficult the first time a person goes to the pdoc, I cancelled 3 appointments before I was able to go in and get my first Rx.
