Ideal Lab Work Up - PTSD/Depression

Posted by pelorojo on June 4, 2003, at 13:34:28

Hi wonderful people of PB,

I have gotten my psych to agree to order a full lab workup on me both as a checkup and because I want to see if I may have any other causes/treatment options for my PTSD/Depression. I take Provigil, Wellbutrin, and Lexapro and a few supplements (i.e., fish oil) but have only achieved partial remission.

So I was wondering if you all could contribute your thoughts on what all I should be tested for. I particularly want to make sure I get tested for the *right* parameters instead of the knee-jerk standard ones (where those differ). Here's what I'm thinking so far:

testosterone: free & total
cortisol
glucose tolerance
thyroid

and for general health:
liver function
markers of syndrome x (cholesterol, homocysteine)

Any others? Are there particular markers to have tested that are usually not tested for?

thanks much for your suggestions.
