effexor withdrawl nightmare

Posted by andie on May 29, 2003, at 14:41:29

I am really trying to find out if anyone has experienced anything similar to this. My 16 year old daughter has been on effexor for a year now. She was on about 125mg. daily.Anyway she wanted to get off it for certain reasons so the doctor changed her to lexapro which doesnt have as many side effects. So she was to drop the effeox to 75 mg. for about 3 days and start the lexapro at the same time.In three more days drop down to 37mg. for about a week or so, then for 2 or 3 days take every other day. Well anyway when she got to the 37 mg. she slept for about 2 days straight and was an absolute wreck crying depressed so bad. Anyway she stayed on lexapro for a few weeks and didnt think it was doing anything so she wanted off of it to. Got off of it and for the first time in 3 years she was on nothing and it was a disaster!!!! She was a mess finally got her to think about her choice and she has been put on wellbutrin a low dose of 100 mg. and zoloft at night just 25 mg. to see how this works she does seem to be alittle better BUT what my real question is since she has been off the effexor about 6 weeks now she has been sick. Headaches, fatigue, soreness all over her body and ive been reading the withdrawl symtoms of effexor and im so mad. The doctor said this should be over with and it couldnt still be because of the effexor but i think it is. So how long will this last when will it get better. She feels like crap all the time like she has the flu or somthing. so if anyone knows or has been through the same thing please tell me anything that you know!!!!!!!!
