I have tries to stop Effexor XR 0ver 5 times. I have the brain-shocks and they are constant. Trust me- you do not want this hell. I notice them after 30-48 hours after my last 75mg dose. I also lose my ability to thing rationally, which is scary since I already had a short fuse. BEWARE- this stuff is poison, no matter how much it did help my depression and rage initially. I think it is very addictive, but hopefully I can live with the horrible brain shocks for the next few weeks to months, for from other patients I have spoken with that is how long they lasted for them. I made it almost a week one time, but I was hallucinating, having realistic/violent nightmares, and my work/family life has never been the same and will probably be worse this time since I do noy plan to ever take one again...

Well, I researched here and elsewhere on the the internet. I discussed with doc and we decided that trying it was worth it.
So... 1wk @ 37.5mg, 5wk @ 75mg. Mood improved, concentration and motivation are still bad. So, I am now 3wks into 150mg. Same problems. I am giving it some more time tho...
I hope I have no problems getting off this stuff!
Thanks for the post!
