There's no risk of developing serotonin syndrome from combining Effexor and Ecstasy, because Effexor (as well all the SSRIs) will completely block the effects of MDMA. Basically, it's a waste to use MDMA if you are currently taking Effexor or an SSRI. There are other substances put into MDMA pills that could cause a bad reaction, however. DXM, for instance, often shows up in Ecstasy tablets - and DXM + anti-depressants is a BIG NO-NO.

Nausea is certainly a very common side effect, and nothing to worry about. I haven't heard much about teeth chattering or dilated pupils, but they also sound relatively minor. It is all a matter of degree, I guess.
