Tricyclics are generally considered to be the most sedating - due to anti-histaminic/anti-chollinergic effects. There are certainly exceptions however. SSRIs tend to cause some degree of lethargy in most folks, and strong drowsiness in certain people as well. I noticed this on Celexa, only. MAOIs are probably around the same level as SSRIs sedation wise, though Parnate may be stimulating.Some non-sedating ADs that don't fit in to these classes would be: Wellbutrin, Reboxetine... uh....
off-label stuff like Strattera, Ritalin, Provigil, Mirapex, etc.
