MAOI Hypertensive Crises

What is the best way to deal with a hypertensive crisis? My doctor prescribed Nifedipine to be taken sub-lingualy in case of an emergency. Then I am supposed to go to the emergency room.

Problem is, I read an article that said that Nifedipine can be dangerous in case of hypertensive crisis (http://www.vh.org/adult/provider/pharmacyservices/PTNews/2000/09PTNews.html).

Any thoughts?
