Common sense dose adjustment

Posted by Squiggles on May 11, 2003, at 8:32:10

I've found that i have been able to
stop chronic (about 3 yr.) daily diarrhea
by not taking 1/3 of my lithium dose on
Saturdays.

I reported this to my dr. and got no objections;
i have a feeling the lithium is too high for
the Synthroid dose; other benefits of doing this
have been i don't feel so heavy and immobile,
more active physically, easier to breathe,
and do not have head heat storm feelings.
It does not bother my sleep, but i don't have
to sleep in the aft. as i do when the lithium
seem to go high, amounting to many hrs. of sleep.
I also don't drink water throughout the night -
like 3 glasses.

I am considering doing it 2x a week, say Sat.
and Wed. That is, on those days taking 600
instead of 900mg; That would bring the average
daily dose down to 800mg per day.

I won't do it more than 2 or 3 consecutive
days because when i did i had terrible withdrawal.
I told that to my dr. I think he doesn't mind
if i exeriment.

What do you guys think? Do you regulate
your dose for tolerability, or stick to
the prescription by the letter?

TIA

Squiggles
