I have just bought a fascinating book - "Adrenal Fatigue" by James L Wilson which suggests a test we can all do to see if adrenal exhaustion may be part of our problem ( low cortisol being one possible aspect of this).
This is on pages 77-78 and is as follows:
You need a chair, flashlight and mirror a watch with a second hand and a dark room.
Basically sit in the dark room on the chair in front of a mirror, shine the flashlight across one eye, not directly into it but from the side of your head, keep the light shining steadily across one eye and watch in the mirror with the other.
If you have no adrenal problem the pupil should contract immediately and stay so for more than 2 minutes, to quote Wilson : "But if you have some form of hypoadrenia the pupil will not be able to hold its contraction and will dilate despite the light shining on it. this dilation will take place within 2 minutes and will last for 30-45 seconds before it recovers and contracts again"
It may help to have a friend watch the eye or the watch for you.I guess if you find a problem it might be worth a look at the book.
Honestly folks I am not Mr Wilson in disguise!Glenn
