I was taking 600mg of Lithium (could not tolerate 900 mg -- blood level went into toxic range and I had some bad side effects)
Anyway, I just recently added a LOW dose of Depakote (started with 500 mg/day which was too high! I'm sensitive to meds; now at 250 mg/day) to control mood swings and depression and KNOCK ON WOOD, the Depakote is what is AUGMENTING the Lithium.
For what it's worth, I'm also on Celexa and seem to have no *feelable* side effects. Again, KNOCK ON WOOD (I'm superstitious!)
How LONG/SHORT have you been on the Celexa and what dose? I had to wait a very LONG time for it to kick in. Longer than with other a-d's I had tried.
Yes, some AD's combine better with lithium than others but I do not know which ones. Sorry. I bet your pdoc does, or there is info out on the Internet that would tell you.
I guess you could say that *I* am successfully combining Lithium with Celexa, albeit at relatively LOW doses.
