Paxil has pooped - should I drop it?

Hi

I've been on Paxil for about 5 years now - the first 3 years it worked great (for my panic disorder) but it pooped out and then I spent the last 2 years trying to augment it with something so it will work as well . I'm now taking 40mg Paxil and 40mg nortriptyline. The nor has been working - but not enough to block the panic attacks. I wanted to increase the dosage, but my PDoc says it's too dangerous with the Paxil combo. I'm wondering if I should slowly taper off the Paxil completely and just take nortriptyline at it's normal dose?

PS - My blood levels show that the nort levels are in the therapeutic window.
