The withdrawal problems of Effexor are well known. Oftentimes, a doc will have the patient take Prozac during Effexor withdrawal to help in the transition.

I'm surprised by your doctor's approach to the situation, especially not warning you about withdrawal symptoms. Some docs don't have too much experience with certain drugs.

I am doing very well with Lexapro. I had very serious depression for many years and Lexapro has erased close to 100% of my depression and about 90% of my anxiety. The starting dose of Lexapro is 10 mg but I take 20 mg.
