Venlafaxine Mirtazapine Paroxetine

Posted by babak on March 19, 2003, at 12:48:51

Hi again,

I have been prescribed to switch from a combination of Venlafaxine(Effexor X/R) & Mirtazapine (Remeron) to Paroxetine (Paxil).

Since I flatly refused to come off Effexor without a substitute, I have been prescribed to come off Remeron then start on 20mg of Paxil and then reduce Effexor slowly and increase Paxil until Effexor is completely out.

However when I stopped Remeron I started feeling sleepy and taking Paxil is not helping it.

My question is how much Paxil can I take while I am on about 110mg of Effexor X/R and how long will I feel sleepy. It has already been over a week now.

I really can't function more than four or five hours a day. I go to bed in the afternoon and just can't come out again.

Before when I tried to come off Effexor I could manage it until I got to about 37.5 but less than that head Zapping would be come unbearable. I am hoping Paxil will help me to come of Effexor at last after seven years. But feeling this sleepy for this long makes me want to go back on Remeron.

The doctors have said 20mg of Paxil until I go below 75mg of Effexor X/R but I think they are underestimating my capacity for ADs I was on 225mg Effexor X/R, 45mg Remeron and Buprenorphine. Should I try and increase Paxil? Will it stop me feeling so tired and sleepy?

Any ideas? Any tips?
