> Similar to your comments about Depakote, 50mg Topamax seemed to eliminate my irritablity (when it was added to my Keppra/Lamictal). But Topamax made me so tired and made me cry a lot (which I sort of liked at first because it was so different not being angry, but then the depressed feeling got old). I've never tried Depakote, Lithium, or Trileptal. Right now my mood seems "fairly" stable and my irritability is "low." My main issue is depression and social anxiety now (which is good I suppose). My doc said my next step is Selegilene... Any comments or ideas?

Topamax worked wonders to help sleep when I tried it (with just 15mg sprinkle caps at bedtime, too). I had some paresthesia though-misinterpreted as a rash thing. The reason I didn't stay on it was trouble concentrating and thinking straight the following day. However, I was also on 900mg of Neurontin with it-so maybe the two in combo made that worse. Never noticed any depressive feelings with the TOP though. Selegeline.. never tried that one. I've heard that it can trigger irritability because of the amphetamine metabolites. Given that your doctor is investigating dopaminergic meds for your symptoms--why not ask about some dexedrine? Would sure be a heck of a lot cheaper. Dex was the only stimulant that I tried where I didn't tic and it actually seemed to reduce anxiety somewhat. In fact, I nearly got off SSRI's (Celexa in this case) with dex.(went two weeks straight without a dose and my mood cycling was flattening out). It could be that the dex didn't aggravate cycling and that getting off the SSRI was reducing the cycling.
