Question: Is weight gain a side effect of psychiatric medications?
Answer: The answer is yes, which I realize may not do much for anyone's depression or mine---but it's not all bad news. The brain neurotransmitters affected by these drugs to improve our moods are the SAME brain chemicals that control appetite. The Result: As our depression lifts, our appetites may increase. This is what Prozac did to me.
