There are very few "cures" for mental illness, but there are very very few cases of mental illness that can't be greatly improved. Eight years is a long time to find the right treatment but sometimes it takes that long or longer. Let us know about your illness and the things you've tried. A lot of people will be able to give support and suggestions.
Have you tried all the possibilities with SSRIs, TCAs, MAOIs, anti-convulsants, Lithium, APs, benzos, stimulants, T3, ECT? There are others. Have you tried opioids like buprenorphine or tramadol?
Be agressive with your treatment. Find a psychiatrist who is willing to do "whatever it takes".
Life will get better.
