Great point Shawn. Considering that the majority of outpatients suffer from atypical depression, shouldn't the bulk of new treatment research reflect this? Especially since the majority of melancholic depressives benefit more from current therapies in comparison to unipolar atypicals and bipolar II-atypical individuals. Part of the issue of course is that atypical depression is a much more complicated condition. Nevertheless, there should be more pre-clinical work being done than there currently is.We should start a petition to NIMH or something!
