Hi again:-)
That is soooooooooooo weird because since I started back on 50mg Lamictal at night-I have slept a lot better, in fact, I am able to get by on only 100mg Seroquel instead of 200mg which made me feel really doped up the next day. You are very knowledgeable. I just think it's really weird, but it could explain my mania at night-but then again my mania the last few nights is there BEFORE I even take the Lamictal for the night. *sigh* A lot to think about thank you:-)
Kristen===========================================================================================Hi again,
Well, Lamotrigine is an activating anticonvulsant which can cause insomnia. Lamotrigine suppresses the release of the excilatory amino acid glutamate and acts indirectly on the NMDA receptors. What does that mean? Lamotrigine is a powerful antidepressant and taken at night it can be activating and cause insomnia. That's all.
Max.
