Here in the UK the benzodiazepine Rohypnol is more easily available than in the US where it has got a reputation as a date rape drug.
As one of my many bezodiazepines I once tried Rohypnol and I have to say that the only thing which impressed me about it was that it was so weak. At 1mg it was supposed to be equivalent to other benzos I have taken but it didn't seem it was.
Has Rohypnol's bad reputation been hyped up? It seems to be hated as a date rape drug because (1) victims can't recall what happened and (2) it works quickly. But AFAIK all benzos induce retrograde amnesia and I would not have thought that Rohypnol was a lot worse than the other benzos at doing this. Maybe the reputation is because it has such a short half life that it can't be detected easily that makes it so disliked but even this seems uncertain because I have seen the half life given variously as 1 to 2 hours and also as 16 to 35 hours.
Has anyone else here taken it as a sleeping tablet?
