Benzos really do their best stuff for anxiety or seizure type situations, and the new theory is that pathological anxiety is a "slow seizure" like they think bipolar is. But why are you angry? Irritable mania? Or treated like garbage? Anger is a symptom of something.
I have nasty irritable mania ( and was treated like garbage most of my life) and I like Trileptal best of all the AEDs/ mood stabilizers.Few side effects, minimal if any weight gain. I also go to therapy, which helps enormously. Coming off an SSRI will make you feel awful too- the withdrawal effects are worse than the company PR lets on, and then you always fall into a gap between drugs too,
You need to pick a mood stabilizer, and give it time to work. it can take a few weeks to titrate up to the right dose, and a few more to realy settle in to it. Then see if you need an AD- you may not. Different benzos work for different people, I can't use Klonopin but you should try it- A benzo will help sooth the storm in your brain. If it doesn't work, there are plenty of others to try. I use Valium. The great thing about Benzos is that they work now, you may be groggy or giggly for a week but they work pretty immediatly.Hope it gets better soon
