In reply to good or bad experiences with Aurorix(moclobemide)?, posted by Tepiaca on February 7, 2003, at 12:30:28

My eyes opened wide when I saw your post. I am presently phasing out Aurorix and can't wait to get it out of my system totally in about 13 days.(I took it for depression, not social phobia.) Actually, when I started taking it, I was feeling pretty decent--I wanted to see if it would help PREVENT a relapse of depression. As things turned out, I was at 600 mg. when I realized about 10 days ago that this stuff was MAKING me depressed and or even worsening my depression. My pdoc disagrees--he says that an anti-depressant shouldn't worsen depression, but I've seen a number of posts on this board from people who got worse while taking Aurorix. I will look back upon my experience with this drug as taking poison. (Check out my previous post called "Is this stuff poison?" and you'll see I'm not alone). I'm currently going through the worst depression of my life--hanging on by a thread. I hope to go back to the med that helped me for 18 years--MAOI Parnate. The problem is that I have to return to the U.S. to get it. (I'm presently living in Thailand but Parnate is not available here, so I thought that Aurorix would be a close substitute. The whole situation rots. I've posted a number of items on this board as a consequence of what I've been going through, thanks to Aurorix. So now you know my experience in a nutshell.
