I agree with all three listed by ROO, But I'll add a bit (Hell, she won't mind...lol)Lithium and depakote are now "the gold standards", but weight gain is often associated with them.
Don't let a doc put you on Neurontin---tell him we at PB all agree that it is usually not efective.
Lamictol is often used for bp's with prominent depressives syptoms.
Triliptal for those with mixed anxiety.
Be honest with doc, though. While Toprimax is effective, and can lead to some weight loss, if you have or have had an eating disorder this can be a bad choice!! I am just a sort of a "lean" runner and cycler and doc thougt it was not the best for me b/c I might eventually blow away...lol
