> Hi, I've been reading P-B off and on for almost a year now. I think I've finally narrowed my questions to a few hundred. My question regards meds used for depression, ADD and GAD. I'm currently taking neurontin, prozac, adderall, gabitril prescribed by my pdoc. I also have hypertension (see GAD!!), hypothyroid, FMS and CFS. Here's my question, I've been on most of the anti-depressants in the PDR (OK, overstated) and prozac seems to take the edge off the depression (I've been depressed for over 40 years and refuse to continue in this miserable state), but it doesn't banish it enough to enable me to be even slightly productive about "working" on solutions, etc. I thought perhaps that Adderall was the answer, but I don't think it is though I actually have a little energy when I take it (and not every day). Anyway, before I write a dissertation, I'd be interested to hear from others who have been on different combinations of anti-depressants that have seemed to make a difference and enable them to find a competent therapist and combine the two methods. Thanks so much.
Hi, one very important thing that you mentioned was being "hypothyroid". If you have any general medical conditions that could influence your psych symptoms or that could thwart psych meds, you need to get those issues under control first thing. What do your TSH levels tend to run? I would get those in a reasonably normal range first (with thyroid augmentation with the supervision of an endocrinologist), then work on the other issues, IMO. good luck.
