> I'm into my second week of Lexapro 10mg in the am. Unfortunately, I seem to one of those rare individuals who experience insomnia while taking this medication. Other than the insomnia, I do feel much better already. My question is: will the insomnia side effect subside? How can one continue to feel better if their sleep is compromised? If this keeps up, that is, waking up at 2am and being awake for the rest of the night, I'll be a tired-out-of-sorts mess in no time. Anyone else experience this?

> Thanks. Not rare at all (unless you ask your doctor, who will say it is). In fact, many of us on the Lexapro thread experience ongoing insomnia linked to the Lexapro. We are all trying different methods of treating it -- mainly, taking the Lexapro first thing in the morning. I personally take lorazepam (generic Ativan) to help me sleep. I was trying Trazodone, but it would only make me drowsy and then I wouldn't fall asleep. My definition of purgatory. Anyhow, you might want to check out the Lexapro thread and see how everyone else is dealing with the insomnia. And good luck -- getting a good night's sleep is so important to treating depression!
