In reply to meds for muscle tension?, posted by jesus on February 4, 2003, at 16:17:53
Hello...
fachad is right...you could ask for a muscle relaxant like Flexeril, I got a prescription for it once, and I occasionally use it. I am on Klonopin, pretty much everyday, 2 mg daily, and honestly, it doesn't relax my muscles like Flexeril. It is pretty good stuff.
Just go into your doc and tell him about your muscle tension and ask if there is anything you can take for it. Tell him it is really bothering you. Don't ask for anything specific. If he suggests a benzo, then great, if not maybe he will suggest a muscle relaxer. If he doesn't suggest anything, tell him you heard Klonopin can be good for muscle tension (also if you are having irritability or aggitation, it helps for that too..hint hint). So if you are having all those symptoms I would think he would be more likely to write you a script for it.
Of course Klonopin is a longer acting benzo than Xanax, so for muscle tension Klonopin would be a better choice than Xanax. Also Xanax tends to be more abused, or so they say, I wouldn't go in there and ask for it.
If he refuses to give you a benzo, thats when you should mention a muscle relaxer.
These are all just my personal opinions!!!!
Hope you get what you need to help you feel better.
Jodie
