Good luck with Provigil (modafinil). I took it for a while, and found that it provided some real benefits. It was energizing but not anxiety-provoking, as some stimulating meds (especially Wellbutrin!) are for me. It also seemed to improve my mood and enthusiasm. I took about 50 - 100 mg/day, and that was about right for me. I had no problems with insomnia, or any other substantial side effects.
I changed to Adderall because the goal was ADD treatment, and Provigil didn't help enough with concentration issues. Adderall is better for me in this respect, and provides the other benefits that Provigil did. But I think that Provigil has real potential for some people; my psychiatrist says he's had very good success with it for certain patients who haven't responded well to other meds. A good friend of mine who's bipolar and taking a combination of mood stabilizers and ADs started it recently, and says it's markedly increased his alertness and motivation.
All the best!
