I've been on Nardil for 17 years, going off of it a number of times to try other meds, like when prozac first came out, and others. Always had to go back on it. The risk of adverse reactions is high, and being very careful about what you eat and what otc meds you take, as well as other rx meds is crucial. I've had mild problems occasionally, but one time it interacted with a drug I'd just been prescribed and I went into a hypertensive crisis and it was a trip to the ER for support. **I'd also been given a shot of Demerol while in the hospital, and the residents did know i was taking nardil, and I coded, but was revived. Demerol in particular has been known to interact and cause death not just a few times.
I have been on meds that warn against use with Nardil, and the doctor monitored more closely.
It seems to be individual in how one person may respond to Nardil with other meds.
