low dose lithium and weight gain

I have a friend who was recently diagnosed Bipolar. Her doctor would like to start her on a low-dose of lithium (she is VERY med sensitive). However she is concerned about weight gain. She has body image and eating issues and thinks weight gain will intensify those issues. Is lithium weight gain dose related? Thanks. babs
