I haven't been here for 2-and-a-half years, and serendipitously tonite i got an email alert of a new folo to a thread i participated in years ago.
I say it's serendipitous because tonite i am having a bizarre reaction to 300 mgs. of neurontin and the evening 200 mg dose of fluvoxamine(generic luvox) which I wonder if one of you meds guru/geniuses could explain. it's not a bad combo in the books, and my p-doc said it was very unusual, and i am sure it is the combination.
the reaction, which i'm still having now to some extent, is that i'm flying high as a kite. definitely not able to drive or anything like that. very speedy, very spacey, shaking all over, speech racing and slurring both. it is actually a pleasant feeling except for its intensity and lack of control.
i called my p-doc, who said to take 7.5 mgs of tranxene an hour until it abates, and i just took my 4th one and it's coming down, but more slowly than i would like.
The reason i would like to know what is causing this is that right before i get high i feel normal for a short while after feeling deep depression but then i get high very quickly. Explaining this might help my p-doc come up with a good med treatment for my major depression and OCD. we have tried many things, and i am so far treatment-resistant to meds.
More details below on how i took the combo, but i'll say now that i would greatly appreciate any help anyone can give. thanks.
(I also took my morning 200 dose of fluvoxamine as well.the neurontin was taken about 1-2 hours after the fluvoxamine in the evening. this reaction happened to a lesser extent the only other time i combined the two. i don't frequently use neurontin, but i've never had a problem with it or combining it with any other med.
