Atypical Depression and Effexor

Effexor will seem stimulating, at first, and it makes sense that your doc tried it but it did not work for me. For me the only solutions that worked were 1) the diet drug sibtramine (which is a very stimulating anti-depressant) or 2) a regular SSRI with a stimulant like Concerta. Plus, getting enough light/ light therapy is important. (Without sibutramine, I can't stay awake to use my bright light box.)The new ADD drug might work. It is called Strattera. Do NOT mix stimulants or stimulating drugs with Effexor. I don't have much problems with side-effects but Effexor doesn't mix well. Don't let your husband turn into a bump. He has to take responsibility for his own recovery. If your treat him like an invalid, he might like it.
